Deepinder Goyal Hilariously Reveals Secret Sauce To The Cheesy Zomato Notifications: ‘Messages Meant For Gia But…’
In the promo of the new episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2’ on Netflix, the singer-actor-comedian and host Kapil Sharma grilled Zomato’s co-founder and billionaire boss Deepinder Goyal about the flirtatious notifications sent to customers. Sharma ji showed a few samples from the notification bank of the food delivery app. Sample this: “Pasta has many types, but we only have one type—you.” The comic asked Goyal in a very non-scripted manner 😉 whether the messages were actually meant for his Mexican wife Gia (Grecia Munoz). The former shark seemed taken aback (in a very non-scripted manner), and so did the Murthy couples who shared the stage with the Goyals and the comedy show’s host onstage.
The former shark at Shark Tank India, Deepinder Goyal, revealed that few messages were definitely meant for Gia. However, rather than texting to his s/o, he forwarded it to the marketing team to include in the notifications. Goyal further cheekily explained how he advised his young and passionate marketing team to build a relationship with customers, which he quips, “They took it quite literally.”
Meanwhile, the GOI has sent some cheesy notifications to Zomato and its rival Swiggy over unfair trade practices. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found that the food delivery giants have breached antitrust laws in recent years by engaging in exclusive tie-ups. The shares of the company might get cheesy notifications too when the bells toll in the next business day.

The CCI case is also mentioned as one of the “internal risks” in Swiggy’s IPO prospectus, which says “any breach of the provisions of Competition Act, may attract substantial monetary penalties.” https://t.co/JxvU44OmVL
