Hansal Mehta Reacts To Criticism For Hindi Dub Of The Buckingham Murders; ‘It’s Unfortunate’
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s recent directorial caused a stir on social media when the Hindi version of the film on Netflix turned out to be a dub instead of the original language of the film. The film led by Kareen Kapoor did not cause big ripples at the box office and opened to mixed review. It recent release on Netflix was also not well recieved due to the glitch.
After many complained about the film’s dub, the filmmaker also took to his X to responded and assure users that the OG audio will be restored for the The Buckingham Murders on Netflix. For the unversed, the film was released in theatres in two versions: one in Hindi and English and the other dubbed solely in Hindi.
One X user tagged the director and the streaming platform saying, “Disappointed with #TheBuckinghamMurders Hindi dubbing. @NetflixIndia, @netflix pls release the original version! Authenticity matters. It’s painful to watch the foreign actors speak Hindi #KareenaKapoorKhan @mehtahansal what were u thinking ? Waiting for the Hinglish version (sic).”

Mehta got back to the user saying, “Do you think we did this? We have nothing to do with all this. This is a tech mess up by @netflix. It is terribly upsetting. They have assured us that they’re working on resolving it by later tonight (sic).”
When asked which version of the film should be watched, Hansal replied, “Please watch the Hindi (Original) version now. Due to a technical glitch this was not available earlier (sic).”
The Buckingham Murders had also travelled across multiple film festivals before premiering in India on September 13, 2024.
